Remember how I mentioned there was a mix-up with our hotel booking in Odemira? Well, it eventually got sorted, and we moved into the rooms we originally reserved. We initially had a two-bedroom apartment at the Enigma – Nature and Water Hotel, which was already nice, but these new rooms took things to the next level!
I’m always impressed by a good bathtub, so this was just perfect for me!
We decided to take it super easy that day. We enjoyed a long, leisurely breakfast for a couple of hours while catching up on some English newspapers, lounged by the pool, and retreated inside with some wine when unexpected rain showed up, then went back out to the pool once it cleared up. It was a slow, relaxed day.
After lunch at the hotel, we went for a drive along the coast. Honestly, I can’t remember our exact destination, and I don’t think we really had one in mind. It was just one of those times where you turn whenever you feel like it.
Luckily, this part of Portugal is great for spontaneous adventures, and you can end up somewhere beautiful without a plan.
Our drive took us through beaches, quiet towns, and eventually led us to a tiny fishing village in the middle of nowhere. We decided to have an early dinner there since we had an early flight home the next day and needed to pack.
After dinner, we took in the sunset before heading back to the hotel.
I realize we didn’t accomplish much on this day, but it felt amazing! We often invest so much energy in finding great places to stay, only to leave in search of other attractions. It’s nice to have a balance and actually enjoy the place you spent time and money on.
Plus, it was fantastic leaving Portugal feeling utterly refreshed and rested, while also eager to return. See you soon, Portugal!
