After a morning of horseback riding through the breathtaking Faroese landscape, we returned to the hotel to warm up a bit. It was sunny, but the wind had a bite that only the thrill of the ride seemed to counteract. Once we were cozy and finished with lunch, we found ourselves without a plan for our last full day on the Faroe Islands. So, we decided to just hit the road.
Leaving Torshavn, there are plenty of routes to choose from, and we opted for a path past Kaldbaksbotnur. I remembered seeing a road that led into the mountains, and it turns out I was right! The view from up there was stunning, especially on such a sunny day.
After soaking in the scenery, we spent the afternoon driving from one beautiful spot to another, stopping when something caught our eye and enjoying little walks. It was wonderful! Being spontaneous has its perks; sometimes it’s better not to plan every detail and just go with the flow. This way, you can truly enjoy the moment—whether that means exploring the mountains or just relaxing at a local bar.
I’ve learned that revisiting places I’ve been to before allows for more relaxation and enjoyment without the pressure to see everything. The Faroe Islands are perfect for this, with endless breathtaking sights.
Eventually, after hours of exploring, we made our way back to Torshavn just in time for dinner at Etika, an amazing sushi restaurant. It might seem odd to have sushi on a European island, but with the freshest seafood straight from the ocean, it makes perfect sense. The menu at Etika was fantastic, and all that fresh air definitely worked up our appetites!
We ordered a variety of dishes, and this time, I managed to get the order size just right. Everything was delicious across the board, except for the tempura, which I found a bit too thick, although Lloyd loved it. The dumplings were a must-try, and the salmon was absolutely incredible—abundant and flavorful.
After dinner, we took a leisurely walk around Torshavn to digest our meal, which led to one last spontaneous drive around the island—definitely a FOMO moment for me.
The next morning, we had to rise early for our flight. I wish I could say that the trip made me feel completely satisfied with my experience on the Faroe Islands, but in reality, I just wanted to come back for more! I want to see it in winter, watch the puffins, experience the vibrant greens of summer, and witness the Northern Lights. The Faroe Islands are simply amazing, and I can’t recommend visiting enough!
