We’re excited to have our first-ever guest blogger on Hand Luggage Only! Meet Georgia—a fellow Londoner who’s a talented graphic artist and amazing photographer. She’s not really the Mother of Dragons, but she is the proud mom of Señor Baxter, the cutest French Bulldog in London. I remember when Baxter was just a little two-month-old pup who’d excitedly pee on you. Now, nearly a year old, though he no longer has that little accident, he’s an avid football player!
Georgia and I were chatting recently, and she told me about her trip to a castle. It was too fascinating not to share with you! Georgia, who is super organized and has helped us plan amazing trips to America, Thailand, and Amsterdam, is always fun to be around. Here’s her story about the castle visit…
FROM GEORGIA:
I spent a fantastic weekend at a magnificent 5-star Regency Castle, and I can’t stop talking about it! It’s in Wales, tucked away off the A487 between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. I was there for my brother-in-law’s wedding, and there’s something magical about celebrating such a special day in a stunning location like this. The views from the castle, especially from the top of the turret, are breathtaking, overlooking the Dovey estuary and the rolling hills of rural Mid Wales.
The castle has been beautifully decorated, combining luxury with a coziness you wouldn’t expect in a castle. Dating back to the 1820s, it was fully refurbished in 2007, preserving its original charm while incorporating modern amenities. There are eight rooms, a library, a conservatory, and 45 acres of landscaped gardens. Owners Maureen and Peter are incredibly warm and welcoming. Plus, their adorable dog Sid greets guests at the drive—it’s so charming!
I highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway or a special occasion. The castle is called Glandyfi Castle. If you’re curious to learn more or want to visit, check out their site for further details.
